LEAD-FREE SELECTIONS
Recommended solders include Indalloy® numbers 1E, 281, 282, 290, 4, 201, 121, 3, 133, and 182. These alloys are the most popular of the over 20 lead-free solders we offer.
LOW TEMPERATURE SELECTIONS
Recommended solders include Indalloy® numbers 136, 42, 1E, 281, 282, 290, 2, and 4. Ranging in liquidus temperatures from 58 degrees C to 157 degrees C, these alloys can be considered for heat sensitive devices or for final soldering in step-soldering applications.
GENERAL PURPOSE SELECTIONS
Recommended solders include Indalloy® numbers 42, 1E, 281, 282, 290, 2, 4, 9, 204, Sn62, 205, Sn63, 7, 121, 182, and 164. Liquidus temperatures range from 100 degrees C to 310 degrees C and include several lead-free alloys. These solders are popular for microelectronics and aerospace applications. In applications that involved soldering to gold, use an indium-based alloy if the service temperature is below 125 degrees C. If the service temperature will be above 125 degrees C, Indalloy® 182 is recommended.
NON-METAL BONDING SELECTIONS
Recommended solders include Indalloy® numbers 1E, 290, 2, 4, and 3. The alloys available for bonding glass, quartz, glazed ceramics, and other non-metal materials, contain indium in varying proportions. Indalloy® 4 exhibits the best wetting, while Indalloy® 3 and 290 exhibit higher strength due to the hardening effect of the silver, although they do result in slightly decreased wettability. For non-metal bonding, an indium applicator is recommended. An information booklet describes how to use this applicator to form the indium sub-oxide layer required for bonding, as well as when to use flux and when to avoid it.
All wire contained in the kit are .030″ diameter x 3 feet, except for Indalloy® 182 (80Au 20Sn) which includes two 3” pieces.
