3D optical microscope image. The frame width is about 1µm.Indium oxide is a yellow colored powder. It is a stable ceramic-like material that is insoluble in water and volatizes at 850°C. Indium oxide is the main constituent for ITO powder, where it is doped with tin oxide.
Indium Oxide is also an n-type semiconductor and is used as a resistive element in integrated circuits to form heterojunctions with p-InP, n-GaAS and other semiconductors. In alkaline batteries indium oxide is used to suppress outgassing. Other uses include glass coloring and as an anti-arcing additive in high current electrical switches and contactors.
